HC2MM Getting Started

Pre-requisites:

1. To use the Herzum Mattermost Migration App you must first install your Mattermost instance.
   Please refer to the following documentation for installing and configuring your Mattermost environment.

2. Java must be installed on the environment launching the application.

As with any data migration, you should make, verify and retain a back-up of all data in the legacy instance before initiating the HC2MM migration tool.  Additionally, any migration should be fully tested in a refreshed staging or testing environment before a production-level migration is conducted.  By downloading and running any version of the HC2MM migration tool, user agrees to the following terms.

The Herzum HC2MM migration tool is made available on and “AS-IS” basis without any warranty or assurance for any functionality of the tool or the accuracy of the documentation.  HERZUM DOES NOT MAKE AND EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES AS TO ANY MATTER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PERFORMANCE, RESULTS, SECURITY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, AND FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE. User acknowledges and agrees that Herzum has no express or implied obligation to continue to make the software or any feature thereof available, to introduce any products or services compatible with the software, or to support or fix any flaws identified in the software.

The HC2MM migration tool has not been tested for legal compliance purposes.  User should review each company’s data retention policies for maintaining compliant archives.  Herzum does not make any averment as to compliance with any applicable laws, including but not limited to GDPR, HIPAA, or FINRA, etc.  The HC2MM creates a non-encrypted flat-file containing all data that is exported from HipChat and imported to Mattermost.  Please review your company’s data security and encryption policies before running this or any other tools migrating sensitive data.
