This page describes how to restrict the visibility of the  Request Approvals and the Issue Approval buttons  on the view screen of an issue for specific Projects, Groups, Project Roles, Reporter and Assignee.

 

The Permissions administration screen let you apply restrictions on the capability to notify an Approval Request via e-mail and restrictions on the possibility to set up the approval steps for a single issue.

 

 

Overview

The Permissions administration screen allows you to show/hide the Request Approvals and the Issue Approval buttons  on the issue view screens for specific Projects or users.

The screen looks kike as follows:

If no setting is applied, the default behavior is the following:

  • the Request Approvals button swows up for any user having browsing permission on the issue
  • the Request Approvals button shows up on any issue found in the source status requiring approvals
  • the Issue Approval button shows up for JIRA System Administrators, project lead, users in the group jira-administrators and in the project role administrator.
  • the Issue Approval button shows up on any issue of any Project

Manage restrictions on the capability to notify an Approval Request via email

Navigate the Approval Request tab on the Permission Administration screen in order to:

  • enable the Request Approvals button on the issues belonging to the selected projects exclusively

    The available options include:

    • All. It allows to enable the Request Approvals button on all projects (Default)
    • Only Selected Projects. It allows to enable the Request Approvals button on the selected projects exclusively. Do not select any project to avoid displaying the button on any project.
  • restrict permissions to display the Request Approvals button by project and issue type.

 

Manage restrictions on the capability to setup an Approval Mapping for a single issue

Navigate the Define Custom Approval Rules for single issue tab on the Permission Administration screen in order to:

  • enable the Issue Approval button on the issues belonging to the selected projects exclusively

 

The available options include:

      • All. It allows to enable the Request Approvals button on all projects (Default)
      • Only Selected Projects. It allows to enable the Request Approvals button on the selected projects exclusively. Do not select any project to avoid displaying the button on any project.

 

  • restrict permissions to display the Issue Approval button by project and issue type.
