The Approval History section on the Global Configuration screen allows you to enable some valuable features of the app (Recording on the Database the events regarding the approval flow), customize the Approval History tab by hiding columns and type of events, renaming column headers and selecting grouping criteria. change the text. 

By default the Approval History is not enabled.

Enable Approval History

The Enable Approval History option allows you to enable recording on the database the events regarding the approval flow.

In particular, the events regarding the approval flow can include an approval response (Approved, Rejected, Abstained, Reset, No decision but only Comment), an Automatic Workflow Transition performed by the app, an automatic Approval Request email notification and Approval Reply email notification performed by the app, Approval Request email notifications performed by an user via the Request Approvals button or the Send request button.

This option expects the values ON or OFF. By default this option is OFF.

When this option is ON, any time that an events regarding the approval flow occurs, the related information are persisted on the database.

In particular, the information regarding an event can include the Approval Name, the action performed by the user or by the app, the action executor, the date and time when the action was performed, the current issue workflow status, the workflow transition on complete approbation, the destination workflow status on complete approbation and the approval comment. 

On enabling the Approval History, you have the capability the manage additional options illustrated below.

These options allows you to customize the Approval History tab by hiding columns and type of events, renaming column headers and selecting grouping criteria.

Show Events Grouped by

The Show Events Grouped by option allows you to choose a field that will be used to group the events displayed on the Approval History tab.

In particular, you are able to group the events displayed on the Approval History tab by one of the following fields:

  • Action (the action performed by the user or by the app)
  • Source Status (the current issue workflow status)
  • Transition (the workflow transition on complete approbation)
  • Destination Status (the destination workflow status on complete approbation). 

By default, the History tab displays the events in  descending chronological order (the most recent first).

Hide Events

The Hide Events option allows you to filter the Events that you want display on the Approval History tab.

By default, the History tab displays each event relating the current issue.

In particular, you are able to hide any of the following event:

the approval responses (Approved, Rejected, Abstained, Pending)

Comment not associated to an approval response

Automatic Workflow Transition performed by the app

automatic Approval Request email notification (Automatic Notification)

automatic Approval Reply email notification (Reply Notification)

Approval Request email notification performed by an user via the Request Approvals button (Approvals Notification)

Approval Request email notification performed by an user via the Send request button (Single Notification).

Expand or Collapse Rows

By default, the History tab displays detailed information on each event.


The Expand or Collapse Rows option allows you to default displaying only the event data/time and the action executor.

The event details display on clicking the left side arrow.

Apply Filter

By default, the History tab displays any approval response by any user.

The Apply Filter option allows you to show up only the latest approval response by any user.

Fields Name

The  Fields Name option allows to choose if fields name display on each line (default) or only once time on the top.
